Bodywork Services
Besides being an excellent way to treat yourself to a relaxing experience, massage and bodywork have many more benefits, including: anxiety and depression management, reduction of pain and stiffness, blood pressure control, infant growth, cancer treatment, promotion of easier breathing, improved movement of lymph fluids, improved posture, increased immune strength and musculoskeletal treatment.
I offer many types of bodywork services. The following is a description of each type and their benefits:
Muscular Therapy -is a form of therapeutic massage developed by Ben Benjamin, Ph.D.. It provides relief from pain caused by muscle tension and soft tissue injury. Muscular Therapy includes such techniques as deep massage, myofascial release, and other relieving techniques.
Sound Therapy– is the therapeutic use of sound and music to reduce anxiety and emotional stress, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and promote healing. Techniques can involve different genres of music such as classical Indian, native American flute, jazz, new age and more. It also may include the playing of instruments near or on the clients body. These instruments may be drums, tuning forks, chimes, rattles, bowls or voice.
Prenatal & Postpartum Massage– is massage therapy specifically adapted for the expectant mother’s needs. The mother’s body is properly positioned and supported during the massage, using pillows and padding. Proper positioning ensures comfort and safety for the mother and baby. Some massage techniques, such as deep tissue work, cannot be used and certain areas of the body should be avoided during pregnancy.
Samvahan Vibrational Massage– Translated literally, Samvahan is a Sanskrit word that means “re-awakening of even dead tissue.” What this looks like on the therapy table is different with each practitioner because there are so many ways that one can administer vibration to a client. At SHB I use healing intention combined with an intuitive rhythmic rocking pressure or hand vibrations as well as the use of sound, which is one range of vibration that can be used to heal.
Muscle Release Technique– is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. It is highly effective in the treatment carpal tunnel and plantar fasciitis.
